How to Find the Most Suitable Bed? Three Tips to Find the Best Bed
We’ve used to the life cycle of our household appliances or cars and exchanging them after certain periods of time seems very reasonable. But what about your bed? Although beds are not filled with electronics, a lot has changed since your last bed purchase, and that should be considered when buying a new bed.
1. What size to choose?
As a rule, the size is already set based on your bedroom size or previous experience. The length is a standard 200 cm and width as always. But before ordering a new bed you should think about the size of the bed because it’s natural that a tall person needs more space for stretching comfortably. So, a length of 210 cm is quite reasonable, and at Slept, you can order a bed in that size with any widths. The same goes to the width of the bed – if possible, order a wider bed so you would have space to take any sleeping positions you want. As to children’s beds, in the recent years, the preference from the narrowest 90 cm has changed to wider, 120 cm beds.
The height should also be considered. A continental bed isn’t higher to look fancier; the lower suspension layer adds about 20% of sleeping comfort.
2. A hard or soft bed?
Slept helps to disprove the myth that a good bed is always a hard bed. At Slept, when designing our beds, the so-called Scandinavian-like sleeping comfort is considered – a bed should adjust to you, not the other way around. A perfect bed is one with which your shoulders and waistline sink into the bed just enough to offer light support to your body when sleeping. All Slept spring mattresses have a five-zone spring system created to support a person’s anatomy.
A harder bed or a firmer mattress is usually suitable for those who knowingly prefer a stronger bed and sleep on their back or stomach. An average level of firmness is most preferred and well suited for those sleeping on their sides. A soft bed is good for those who have a curvier body and usually sleep on their sides.
How soft of a mattress is suitable for you depends on your height, weight, and intuition, and that’s why you should try a bed. You don’t need to compromise – if there are two people sleeping in one bed, at Slept you can order bed sides with different softness.
3. How to try a bed?
Using your hand to test the softness or sitting on the bedside for a second doesn’t count as trying a bed. When you come to test a bed and mattress, put on something comfortable and take off your shoes when going to bed; that’s the best way to feel the distribution of your body weight. Try out different sleeping positions; on your stomach as well if that’s how you like to sleep. Focus to get a sense if your body is supported enough.
Surely, the appearance also plays a role in the selection process. All Slept beds have been made to last, so you need to like the bed, and it has to fit into your home. That’s why you can assemble your new bed yourself, choose from different headboard options and bed legs, and certainly, you can choose from hundreds of fabrics. The design of Slept is also different because the two bed bases can be neatly visually merged into one using fabric. The materials used to create the beds and mattresses are Oeko-Tex certified confirming that they are free from any harmful substances.
Slept beds are manufactured in Estonia and hand-made, and it only takes two weeks to fill personal orders.
