User manual for mattresses and beds

Congratulations on your new bed

No more years of sleepless nights dreaming of a new bed. For a bed to serve you for years, you need to take care of it. We’ve put together a few ideas to make it easier.

Life is constantly changing.
So is your bed.

Slept’s beds and mattresses have been made of elastic materials. After using them for some time you might notice that there’s a dent in your bed. That’s a good sign. It means that the bed is getting used and adjusting to your body. An adjusting mattress is good for your bloodstream because it decreases pressure on certain areas. A mattress like that also helps you wake up better in the morning.

Give the mattress some time to wake up in the morning

A person perspires a liter of water during the night. That’s why you should leave the bed to ventilate after waking up and before pulling on the blanket. Dust mites like moisture, but most people don’t like dust mites. You sleep better in a ventilated bed the next time.

Turn your mattress 3 to 4 times a year

Turning your mattress constantly means that you’re using both sides equally. You should turn the mattress in different ways. Put the foot side under your head or just turn the other side of the mattress.

If you have a Duo firmness mattress, you can turn that around as well. Just make sure that when you bring the foot side under your head, you just need to switch sides with your partner.

When to replace a mattress?

The lifespan of your bed and mattress depends on different factors. For example the usage and body weight. Replacing a mattress depends on how you feel. A rule of thumb is that you can replace your mattress topper every 5 and your spring mattress every 10 years. If well cared for, your bed lasts longer.

A mattress like your dream is sacred

If you have to move your spring mattress or store it for a long time, keep in mind that the mattress should be in its natural position not resting on an edge. Excess bending might shorten its lifespan.

Try to avoid sitting oftern and for a long time on the edge of the mattress. Mattress springs are designed to distribute weight evenly over the entire surface, so prolonged pressure on the edges, such as from sitting, can cause deformation of the springs. In addition, spring mattresses can lose their original shape and resilience if they are subjected to continuous uneven pressure, such as sitting on the edges.

A mattress protector keeps your mattress safe.
You keep that safe.

A mattress protector adds sleeping comfort, elongates the lifespan of your spring mattress, and protects the mattress from body moisture. Fortunately, it’s easy to wash.

How to wash a cover?

* Remove the cover
* Make sure it fits into your washer and can also rinse it
* Use the delicate wash cycle and a delicate laundry detergent
* Stretch the cover instantly after the wash

Taking the cover to dry cleaning or to a laundry is the safest.

A mattress topper doesn’t last as long as a spring mattress. Replace it as soon as it feels that the material is worn out or you want to refresh your bed.

The upholstery fabric also needs some cleaning

You can clean Slept’s upholstery fabric and headboards. Clean the bedsides and headboard using delicate foam. Make sure to get it from a furniture store because they have the proper cleaners. Be sure to read the user manual of the cleansing agent.

The mattress should be ventilated and/or vacuumed regularly. If you do it often enough, dust won’t collect between the fabric fibers. Avoid ventilating the contents of the mattress topper under the sun or in hot air.
