A duvet filling suitable throughout the year is SILK – silk cocoons stretched into thin layers. Winter duvets have more cocoon layers than summer duvets. These layers have been spread out on top of each other and between a cotton cover. Silk is also a natural material like linen, wool, or cotton; you will not be cold under this duvet in winter and not sweat in summer, dust mites do not accumulate between silk fibers. Thanks to its airy filling, the silk duvet is very light, but even those who were accustomed to a heavier duvet before will get used to it quickly.
Silk duvets cannot be maintained or washed in a home environment; only gentle chemical treatment is allowed. It is not advised to place weights on an airy duvet, as it may compress the duvet made of cocoon layers and damage the fibers. To refresh silk duvets, they should be aired outdoors and gently fluffed up. The silk fiber content does not tolerate getting wet.
